With a Master’s Degree in Wildlife Ecology, Brian has been taking nature, wildlife and travel images from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Africa, Russia, South America, and Asia.
Brian uses a Canon digital camera with Canon lenses to capture images. Older photographs were taken with Canon 35mm cameras and lenses using transparency film. All photographs are digitally mastered in Photoshop and then printed with an Epson Stylus Pro9800 printer using Ultrachrome K3 ink. These high-gamut pigmented inks have vibrant colors that will last for over 80 years under normal display conditions. The hand-crafted prints are printed on Matte photo paper and Matte canvas. The canvas is coated with Glamour II giclee veneer before stretching on wood stretcher bars.
Brian has two picture books, Birds of the Gulf Coast (Louisiana State University Press 2001), and Louisiana Impressions (FarCountry Press 2005). Additionally, his photos have appeared in numerous magazines, calendars, and books including National Wildlife, National Geographic Traveler, Natural History, Wildlife Conservation, BrownTrout, and Audubon. National Geographic considered Brian to be one of “our finest photographers,” and he was a featured photographer in their book Heart of a Nation: Writers and Photographers Inspired by the American Landscape.
Brian’s extensive and ever-expanding collection of stock imagery is available for licensing.
